Anti-Blackness & Colourism

As part of our Community Cohesion work, account3 has initiated Community Conversations on issues that are important to communities of colour.

Our first day-long event at Queen Mary University covered issues including schools/education, family, religion, media and the beauty industry.

By popular demand, we are holding a follow-up event for women of colour only on "Desire and Relationships".

The event takes place at account3, 3 Birkbeck Street, E2 6JY on October 2nd 2019 at 2pm - 5pm

Conflict Resolution Skills Training

Free Conflict Resolution Skills Training for Women who live in Tower Hamlets

Who is the course for?

This is a women-only course with priority given to women who live in Tower Hamlets. These life skills can be used within families, with friends, whilst studying, in the workplace – anywhere!

What we will cover on the training:

  • Understand how we respond when having disagreements

  • Identify the range of choices we can make in how we respond to people with whom we have disagreements

  • Explore how our cultural backgrounds impact our choices

  • Analyse why conflicts occur

  • Develop strategies to help us engage effectively in difficult conversations

  • Practice skills

Is there any homework?

All of the learning happens in the room – so no homework! The course is very participatory, using games and exercises, so be prepared for active involvement in all the sessions. There is minimal reading and writing. The course is delivered in English with no interpreters.

You must attend all of the sessions

Each session builds on the previous one, so if you miss any part of the four-day course you cannot join back in.
